UTM has invested considerably in machinery and personnel for the development of an efficient Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP). The physical and chemical properties of the mill’s discharge are continuously monitored to conform to governmental environmental standards.

Water Management
UTM constantly modifies and improves its mill processes to minimize the quantity of fresh water used per ton of tissue. Water is increasingly a precious commodity in our region.

Recycling
UTM recycles many types of pre- and post-consumer paper, with such major ecological benefits as the reduction of waste paper dumping and forest conservation. UTM also manufactures different grades of tissue with various percentages of recycled fiber.

Energy Management
UTM modifies its production system and introduces new equipment for efficient use of fossil fuel and reduced air emissions.
